The observations are remarkably accardant. Bright Spot No. 4. Description.--(-) S, F, seen plainly. (/) S, F, well seen, (c) S, F, seen plainly, (d) Suspected, (?) S, m B, plain. (/) Obs. by Quenisset. (g) v S, v F, seen quite distinctly. Mean period of rotation=ioh i2m 455'8 osi4 (258 rotations). The accordance of the observations is very remarkable, none of the six observations made by the writer differing by more than one minute from the mean. The time of May 17 is derived from measures of a sketch made by M. Quenisset with the 9-4-inch refractor of the Juvisy Observatory. VAstronomic, 1893, P-327i fig-I24; Description.--(a) S, F, seen clearly but def. unsteady. (6) F, perhaps brighter, (c) S, F, seen plainly. (d) Obs. by Brown, (c) Obs. by MacEwen. (/) S, m B. seen brightly and plainly, (g) S, m B, seen brightly and plainly. h) S, F, rather well defined. Mean period of rotation=10h 12TM e) o + o't g?, (197 rotations). The first observation of April 8 was made by Mr. G. L. Brown at Stirling, with a 10j-inch reflector. At 10n the spot was seen about 300 east of the central meridian. The second observation is derived from measures of a sketch made by Mr. H. MacEwen at Glasgow, with a 5-inch refractor. As the two positions agree pretty well with each other, the mean of the two has been adopted in the calculations with weight 1. Arranging the different bright equatorial spots in order of increasing longitudes, we have the following results: --The first four spots evidently form a group, and combining the different values, the concluded period of rotation for Class C is 10n 12m 59"-36 o"-27. The period...
